  1. Wow! This is a really insightful interview. I love how honest Diaz is about the excruciating pain he goes through when writing his best works, "like rolling up my emotional sleeves and putting my hand into a fire". The amount of "psychic anguish" he goes through shows in the explosiveness of his words and the passion in his writing. He also talks about his "enormous willpower", and reveals a very profound truth when he says "willpower has no currency in the economy of writing". He expresses that sheer mental strength and focus are not enough to produce brilliant writing and that it takes immense introspection and natural ability to be a successful writer.
